Q. What is the purpose of the Briefing?

A. “Watchmen on the Wall” is a powerful conference….Isa. 62:6: “I have posted watchmen on your walls,
O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest.”

  • Remind spiritual leaders of our nation’s Judeo-Christian heritage.
  • Inform them about the moral issues being debated in the public arena.
  • Ignite their passion to become watchmen who will sound the alarm.
  • Inspire them to encourage their churches to engage the culture as Salt and Light.

Our hope is that you will return home encouraged and empowered to take on threats to faith, family, and freedom and that you will be inspired to share with your congregations what they may do to take a more active role as in your community and our government.

Q. Who may attend a Briefing?

A. Watchmen on the Wall Pastors Briefings are intended for pastors (preferably the Senior Pastor or his designee) and ministry leaders – those who exercise substantial influence in the church.

Q. What about spouses?

A. We invite spouses to participate with the pastor; however, due to limited space and the nature of this event, children and additional family members are not encouraged to attend.

Q. What is the cost?

A. Early bird registration is $179 if pastors register before January 31, 2014. After January 15, 2014, registration is $199 and $295 for spouse (limit one pastor per church, preferably the Senior Pastor) or for the pastor’s designated representative (preferably another pastor on staff). This includes the hotel for Wednesday, May 21 and Thursday, May 22, food (welcome reception, Thursday continental breakfast, lunch and dinner; Friday plated breakfast and lunch), and conference materials. Obviously, this small fee is supplemented by the gracious gifts of FRC donors. However, all attendees are responsible for arranging and booking their own travel to and from DC and for their transportation to and from the hotel.

Unfortunately, FRC does not have funding to cover additional pastors or non-pastors. Registration is $475 if it is before January 15, 2014. After January 15, registration is $495 to cover out-of-pocket costs for meals and conference materials. FRC is happy to extend the discounted room rate of $224 per night; however, you will be responsible for these charges.

Q. Are meals included?

A. Yes, for pastor/spouse (limit one per church—preferably the Senior pastor) or their designated representative (preferably another pastor on staff). FRC will provide heavy hors d’eourves on Wednesday evening, Thursday continental breakfast, lunch and dinner and a plated breakfast and lunch on Friday.

For additional pastors or non-pastors, the $495 fee includes out-of-pocket meal costs.

Q. What about travel?

A. Please allow plenty of time for travel on Wednesday so that you can check into the hotel before the Capitol Tour (pending permission from the U.S. Capitol) as there is not a place to store luggage during the Tour. Also, don’t book a flight before 4:00 PM on Friday to ensure taking part in the luncheon and Commissioning. You will not want to miss it!

Q. What is the plan for Wednesday evening – Friday afternoon?

A. Wednesday: The Briefing kicks off at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening with a reception with heavy hors d’eouvres, a Spiritual Heritage Tour of the U.S. Capitol and a Tour of FRC Headquarters from 6 – 10 PM.

Thursday: Events on Thursday begin with a continental breakfast and will run from 8AM-10PM with a morning and lunch session with challenging speakers, afternoon breakouts and an opportunity to meet and pray with others from your state about pertinent issues in your state. We will end with a dinner banquet, remarks from Tony Perkins and a time of ministry.

Friday: Events on Friday begin with a breakfast, and will run from 8:00 AM-2:00 PM, with more top-caliber speakers, and a luncheon with a final Commissioning.

Q. What type of Briefings are there?

A. We offer one national Briefing for pastors and ministers every May in DC, but we offer regional Briefings at strategic places around the nation. Please refer to the watchmenevents.org home page for future dates.

Q. When is the next national Briefing?

A. The date for the 2015 briefing is May 20 – 22 at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill.

Q. What if I have already been to a Briefing?

A. While the format doesn’t change that much, the speakers and themes do. If you have already been to a WOTW event in the past, come and bring some fellow pastors with you. You will be refreshed and recharged for the battle!

Q. What are the expectations for dress?

A. Business casual for Wednesday evening’s Tours, business casual for Thursday, and business casual for Friday for the Briefing.

Q. What if I am disabled?

A. Due to the layout of Washington, DC, much walking is to be expected. All of the buildings are wheelchair accessible, but if you have a question regarding you ability to participate, please let us know.

Q. May I audio/video record the Briefing?

A. Recording is not permitted. However, CDs and DVDs from the Briefing will be made available on demand during the Briefing. Snapshot cameras are welcome.

Q. May I video the Capitol Tour?

A. No. We require that attendees not video tape the tour. However, WallBuilders offers an even more in depth, two hour Spiritual Heritage of the United States Capitol DVD for sale. Besides, you will definitely enjoy the Tour and the experience inside the Capitol more if you are not peering through your camera’s viewfinder!

Q. More questions?

A. We hope that this information is helpful! For questions about registration, contact Sara Kontz by e-mail at sek@frc.org or by phone at 1-800-225-4008.
